Headline For Swimming In A Yearbook

Volhynia

Viel zu wenig wird über die Wolhynien Deutschen geschrieben, warscheinlich aber auch weil die Geschichte sich mit den vielen historischen Hintergründen mehr als umfangreich gestaltet. Man überlegt womit man beginnen soll. Manchmal bring me my many thoughts really sleep, so that one almost angry about it. Good thing it was a Saturday. Now I knew I was not to remember exactly where it comes from my grandmother. Good that you have a family, where you can ask. Like a will, I wandered through the net and was looking for photos of the town of Tilsit (whence came my Großfater). With the mass dabot is, you were not disappointed. A few days later I phoned my cousin, and learned that our dear grandmother as per passport, born in Alexandria district Lutsk (Volhynia) was, what was once part of Poland. "What a mess, it's incredible how many times over the years modified the country's borders, doch dazu später mehr."

Auf anderen Seiten, die die Geschichte Volyn vorstellen, is hardly or, indeed, actually do not address the Volhynia Germans. "They are like tears, easily wiped away."

Volhynia is still a virtually unknown landscape for many in Eastern Europe, in today's Ukraine.

"Behind the mountain is life."
The region between the Carpathian Mountains (south) and the formerly completely impassable located Pripet Marshes (north), was already always a politically contentious area. Here German settlers sought and found a new home with fertile soil.

Learn output writings from the past

In the 20s and 30s of the 20th Century was introduced in Germany, the German handwriting or the Sütterlinschrift than standard school text. One advance thinking: "Who is this beautiful, creative writings someday to be able to decipher ancient documents and deeds?" It surprised me that I'm the old German script, without ever having learned, haltingly and can be read with the utmost concentration. If I could but so ago, or the children learn in school today only to write capital letters? Probably this will be regionsabhägig.

And I've learned it yet.

I did not know that this is the Latin Ausgansschrift, because when you deal already with the origin, different fonts? Well only when one is confronted with it, or, for whatever reason, always interested.

The Latin text is output from 1953 until 1966 and was made compulsory in some states. I start to ponder, weil ich doch erst Mitte der 80er Jahre eingeschult wurde. Interessant!

"Mich würde interessieren, welche Ausgangsschrift ihr ursprünglich erlernt habt!"

MyHeritage-a meeting place for the family - Genealogy

All pretty exciting can make the genealogy. Yesterday evening, during which I scoured the net looking for a suitable and most cost familytree software, I met with MyHeritage. MyHeritage there is even the free Basic version, the cost premium version and the Premium Plus option. For me, free Basic enough, however perfect. No question, that there does not hesitate to directly logs to be surprised then by the necessary features. I was surprised. No, I'm really excited. Even with the sign you have created his tree. Mikrig but still very expandable. The surface is clear. After several minutes, designed the menu or the configuration of the created tree, a self-sustaining.

You can even view the registered family members through the creation of the family hierarchy of the personal MyHeritage database and once that particular family member to a group without any problem via e-mail. My heritage has a role

a meeting place for the family, a database of everyone.
Better it is not at all.

A free software you can download as well, only this does not work on my macintosh. (Over 30 different languages are available, a choice available).

This project is generally something for everyone, creating the family tree inc a family coat of arms, genealogy topics, humor to genealogy
and discussion forums that are so far not used yet spend, although there is a GERMANY space and more.

The MyHeritage network: "A hall to be found."

I was wondering your opinion and your experience MyHeritage, or to other networks. Unfortunately

I always notice that the MAC User at the abundance in the network, usually get nothing. What a pity.

What's The Difference Between Gray And White Hair

STATE ARCHIVE

The search for the sources that could be used to research the family history may be helpful, I found the "SECRET STATE ARCHIVES Prussian Cultural Heritage (GStA PK). Here also collections are held, which could be promising for some genealogical research. The State Archives in Berlin is home but above all the documents of great historical importance. Documents, including cases in the 13.te century. But not only scientific researchers investigate here.

Only after the German reunification, it has combined the archived collections of Merseyside with the Archives in Berlin. Historical scientists finally had access to significant resources were denied to them for years.

The history of SECRET STATE ARCHIVES is really very interesting.

The memorial blog is created by E. Wieand with much love and to commemorate this sad fate of Erna K.. It does so-so like many other numerous reports on the net and in all books. Not too often can and must be pointed out and hope that such a menschenverachtliche history, never, never repeated. "Nowhere in this world." For me, it's unbearable to know what happened in this so in our country once. There were people systemathisch and according to specific criteria the Tode geweiht.

Memel - then and now

The history of the city Memel is very interesting and goes back far, as really the story of all Prussia, to which I am already addressed. Eberhard von Seyne, a Knight of the Order's sword also called Livorden, founded the city of Memel in 1252nd That same year, the historic castle was built in Memel at the mouth of the Curonian Lagoon.

addition, the time had Livorden of the then ordered to be presented in association with ( Folkwin (Fulk) Grant, 1208-1237 Grand Master of the Sword Brothers ), joined the Teutonic Order already long ago. can

Goethe on Silesia

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe called Silesia "ten times the great country." It is a country that all landscape structures - except coastal land - did exhibit: low mountains, some with high mountain character, river valleys with fertile farmland and to the right or the large forest areas. Above all, the country has rich mineral resources, especially the great coalfields of Upper Silesia and in Waldenburg mountains. Silesia had a good agriculture and was with its production, a hospitable land surplus. Flourished in the foothills of the linen industry, as well as the glass industry in the Giant Mountains and the western part of the country.

origin and history of Prussia PART1

The name Prussia owed the former Kingdom of the native people and their legacies. They called once the Prussians, the so-called Altpreußner. My thanks also to the thirst for knowledge and the intellectual curiosity of mankind.
" I wonder who will explore the present age some day. Just that they might not live to see., Everything is impermanent, including us.
The discovery of unexpected wealth of the modern age has us excited about all the times found the remains of ancestors, whose writings, artifacts, -. usually over many years scientifically analyzed, interpreted and stored separately were just as including the writings of the historian Cornelius Tacitus and other celebrities, which I will go into more detail in the course
.

" Without the archaeological monuments, one could the path of life, history and reconstruct the boundaries of the distribution of these tribes. The tribal names on the early historical records help the identification of archaeologically known cultures, in a few cases they are to be screened in full.

"the fascinating witnesses of our past."

The linguistic and historical context is also part of the history of the Baltic. The term "Balt" can have two different meanings. Depending on whether we use them in the geographical or political sense, or in terms of language, and ethnology. The first includes the Baltic states - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - on the east coast of the Baltic Sea located. are talking of people belonging to linguistic groups. Lithuanians, Latvians, Prussians, with their relatives strains for Indo-European language family. Tribes, many of which disappeared over time through their Gechichte. Estonians are Finnu-Ugri, they speak a different Indo-European language, we will not discussed in detail here.

First came the term "Baltic" in 1845 by Ferdinand Nesselmann on. Some of the "Baltic" Vokssprache: Old Prussian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Curonian, Semigallian and Selian. Old Prussian disappeared around 1700 by the German colonization of East Prussia. Curonian, Semigallian Selian and disappeared between 1400 and 1600. Other Eastern Baltic languages or dialects, extinct in the early era of .

From the work Germania "AD 98" is 98 AD, , written by the Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus, one could appoint an additional language. - "Aistian" , this was first named by him.

Die Aestii werden u.a. vom "gotischen late Roman historian Jordanes of the 6th . Century " described as very peaceful people, that must, however, have been even before the time of Tacitus

It now has a non-fair idea of the full extent of these fascinating history, with all its links - the reference to ancient rare historical writings of historians, scholars, theologians, mathematicians, which had to explore is also, for example by historian Jordanes is little known

Jordanes literature.. "The origins and deeds of the Goths"

"Sambit", "Nadrowite", "Bharti" and "Scalowite." These names were in Latin form. In the present Lithuanian, the names of the Prussian provinces Pamedė, Pagudė, Värme, Notanga, Semba, Nadruva, Barta, Skalva, Sūduva and Galinda. There were two other provinces south of Pagudė and Galinda.

East Prussia "So beautiful" Land of 1000 Lakes

gray is the Vistula Lagoon in the winter, dancing whitecaps on the waves when the winter storms sweep over it. In the winter of 1944-45, the terror austere landscape is at its most inhospitable site. Thousands of people fought their way across the frozen lagoon to the port city Pillau - and many sank in the icy waters. We walk back in the opposite direction, from west to east, from the Vistula to the Curonian Spit, from the Vistula to the Memel.

The focus is on the pristine nature of the coast of the former East Prussia. First stop is the former Koenigsberg. Many houses have fallen, dandelion and daisy fight for a little soil and light. While a certificate of decay and poverty in the city, the little nature, it leads to the Memel magnificent director. We support a fisherman down to the Memel into the lagoon. There herons lurk on rich prey, eagles pull her feeding circuits, hundreds of great cormorants their young. Even from the Memel mouth are the mighty mountains dunes on the Curonian Spit to see.

A photographer from Nida is still a constant companion of shifting sand hills that buried entire villages several times among themselves. His pictures show peaks and ridges, hills and hooks, weird structure that shapes the wind. The wind in the forest with his bizarrely shaped pines live boars, foxes and even moose. Last stop is the oldest bird observatory in the world. Rossitten was founded in 1901. The birds use the Spit as a land bridge on their train and find undisturbed resting places. This turned the famous wildlife filmmaker Heinz Sielmann his first film "Birds of Haff and meadows. Cutouts show from his film and other archival footage, how little the face of the landscape, all the political changes in spite of changed in the past 60 years.

Mazury, located in the former East Prussia, is a unique natural and cultural landscape, idyll and romance. The more than 3,000 waters of the Masurian Lakes, nestled between rolling hills and dark forests, lure, especially nature lovers and water sports to break away from all the hustle and bustle. In the reserves live bison, moose and beaver, not anywhere in Europe so many storks nest as in the former southern East Prussia. And in the picturesque villages of the time seems to stand still.
